The cast of Aquaman has been confirmed for a while, but salient details about the movie have been kept under wraps.

Patrick Wilson was cast as the main villain named King Orm.

Who is Patrick Wilson’s Aquaman villain?

The main antagonist of the DC Comic underwater epic is the half-brother of Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa).

King Orm aka Ocean Master declares war on the surface world, which Aquaman doesn’t agree with.

Aquaman returns to Atlantis to try and stop his half-brother from waging a war.

Aquaman director James Wan told EW despite the fact King Orm is the villain, he’s one that viewers will empathise with the antagonist.

“He’s kind of an eco-warrior,” Wan said. “He’s got a very clear gripe with the surface world, which has been polluting his oceans for centuries.

“And that’s something for me – I’m sure for you too – that’s very easy to understand – if somebody was just constantly polluting our air and ruining how we lived,” Wan added.

AQUAMAN: WHO IS THE VILLAIN IN THE AQUAMAN MOVIE?

Speaking specifically about the character, Wan said: “Orm’s got a soft spot for his brother who lives on the surface world and if anything just wants him to rule Atlantis and the world together, but his brother doesn’t see it that way.”

“A lot of the clashes they have stem from their different upbringings. So I didn’t want to cast a typical villain actor,” he added.

Wan went on to praise actor Patrick Wilson in the role.

“Patrick is such a talented actor and a chameleon as well, he can disappear into any role.”

AQUAMAN RELEASE DATE: WHEN IS AQUAMAN OUT AT THE CINEMA? WHERE IS IT SHOWING?

King Orm, the Ocean Master, has appeared in other DC adaptations that were direct-to-video, voiced by a variety of voice actors.

Patrick Wilson’s undertaking of the role will be the first on the big screens for the Aquaman solo movie.

The next juicy piece of information is the Aquaman trailer, being released in July at the San Diego Comic Con.

Aquaman is in cinemas Friday, 14 December 2018.
