Avengers 4 Captain America DEATH scene: This will break your heart
“We don’t trade lives.”
This is Steve Rogers’ mantra throughout Infinity War, except Doctor Strange did just that when he gave Thanos the Time Stone. And Steve has always been someone who may not be willing to sacrifice his friends, but he will not hesitate to give his own life for the greater good.
With actor Chris Evans’ original contract already expired at the end of Avengers 3, he agreed to extend for the final film in the saga but it is certain Avengers 4 will be his swan song.
What better way to end it all than in a certain ballroom, the music play something slow so he doesn’t step on her toes…?
Fans are desperate for Steve Rogers to get the love that was taken from him.
Hugely popular theories suggest ways Steve will be taken back to the 1940s at the end of Avengers 4 by the Time Stone to live out the life he should have had, with Peggy. Except this would alter the entire timeline of the Avengers, which will already have been through some mind-bending twists by then.
It also discounts the fact that Peggy did have a life. On her deathbed she tells Steve she was loved, she had a family. They would all cease to exist if the timeline is rewritten. As Steve always says, we don’t trade lives.
But what about after-life?
A powerful new theory posted on social media has already had hundreds of thousands of likes and shares.
Shai Stark (probably not her real surname) says: “WHAT IF STEVE DIES IN AVENGERS 4 AND THE POST CREDIT SCENE IS HIM WALKING INTO AN OLD EMPTY DANCE HALL (the one in the Age of Ultron vision) AND YOU HEAR PEGGY’S VOICE SAYING ‘you’re late…’?”
This neatly reunites the lovers without messing up timelines.
It fulfills the vision shown in Age of Ultron with a perfect nod to Peggy always reminding Steve not to keep her waiting. This was the tearkjerking final theme of the original Captain America movie when the plane was about to crash and they agreed on one last date at the Stork Club…
Steve Rogers never completely embraced his life in the modern world. Everyone he knows and loves is gone (apart from Bucky) and the only woman he loved was taken from him.
Avengers 4 will almost certainly involve more sacrifivce and loss before the dramatic end of the first three epic MCU phases.
Fans are worried Steve and Tony Stark will both die in the grand finale, but taking Tony from Pepper and their recently revealed child woud be cruel. Steve’s death and reunion with Peggy would be bittersweet but beautiful.
Speaking of which, we have that final hearbreaking Captain America scen in full below, Get the tissues ready…
CAPTAIN AMERICA FINAL SCENE:
Steve Rogers: [turns the plane toward Earth] Peggy…
Peggy Carter: I’m here.
Steve Rogers: I’m gonna need a rain check on that dance.
Peggy Carter: All right. A week next Saturday at The Stork Club.
Steve Rogers: You’ve got it.
Peggy Carter: Eight o’clock on the dot. Don’t you dare be late. Understood?
Steve Rogers: You know, I still don’t know how to dance.
Peggy Carter: I’ll show you how. Just be there.
Steve Rogers: We’ll have the band play something slow. I’d hate to step on your…
And then the line goes dead and Peggy sobs silently in an empty room.
