Avengers 4: Does THIS heartwrenching theory explain how fallen heroes will be resurrected?
Avengers 4 theories are rife; from Twitter to Reddit and even Instagram, fans are using every corner of the internet to post their ideas.
Most theories centre around a few well-worn facts: Time travel, the quantum realm, and Captain Marvel.
Somehow these three things combine to resurrect the fallen heroes from the end of Infinity War.
But another theory adds a new level of heartbreak fans may not be able to handle.
Does this heartwrenching theory explain how the fallen heroes will be resurrected?
Throughout Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America had an oft-repeated phrase: we don’t trade lives.
He first says it to Vision when he is considering sacrificing himself to prevent Thanos from getting the mind stone.
However, fans think Avengers 4 will see this line come back to haunt the heroes.
The heroes snapped out of existence by Thanos were the new ones – Spider-Man, Black Panther, the Guardians, Scarlet Witch, Sam Wilson, and Bucky.
AVENGERS INFINITY WAR WHAT DID THE POST-CREDIT SCENE SYMBOL MEAN?
With the original heroes left, and their contracts coming to an end after Avengers 4, plenty of fans think the original heroes will trade their lives to allow the new generation to take their place.
Emma Lord of Bustle gave a life-for-life explanation of how this could come about, using the deaths from Infinity War to predict who will die for whom.
She wrote: “Peter dies in Tony’s arms; Bucky immediately calls out to Steve; Rhodey is calling out to look for Sam.
“We even have some slight set up for Thor sacrificing himself for Teen Groot, who saved him with the axe.”
“Each character seemed to have a specific counterpart whose “death” immediately hit them the hardest or showed some implication that it would,” Lord added.
Some fans have also referenced the need for real-world consequences after Infinity War.
Thanos’ snap needs to have some lasting impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for fans to take the stories seriously.
Given so many of the next-generation heroes (who died in Infinity War) have their own solo movies and sequels coming up, fans were pretty sure they’d see them once again.
CAPTAIN MARVEL: WILL THIS GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VILLAIN APPEAR?
But simply reversing Thanos’ snap without any other ramification would have cheapened the ending of Infinity War.
For the original heroes to trade their lives to allow the new generation to flourish would be exactly the kind of heartwrenching transition Marvel fans would love, and weep over.
With Captain Marvel set to be the new face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Phase Four needs to end with a bang.
And what more poignant way to close the chapter of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and the rest than by trading their lives to allow new ones to take their place?
Avengers 4 is in cinemas April 26, 2019.
