Avengers 4: Heroes to TEAM UP with Thanos to defeat THIS even worse villain? New theory
In amongst the onslaught of theories that have emerged about next year’s blockbuster since the release of Infinity War, a couple have made a nod to Galactus.
In the comics, Galactus was depicted as a God-like figure with absolutely no regard for morals or the wellbeing of mortal beings, who feeds off the energy of living planets.
He was first introduced in Fantastic Four #48 back in 1966, and has never appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
A version of the villain was featured in the 2007 movie Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer as a cosmic cloud.
Now, user big_pecs has written on the Fan Theories board on Reddit: “There has… been speculation in this subreddit that using all the infinity stones will bring about some other threat such as Galactus.”
They suggested that “the Avengers will start part 2 by fighting and defeating Thanos, only to need his help to defeat Galactus.
“This can add some extra dimension to this Thanos character that Marvel has so well introduced in part one, and it would mean the final battle wouldn’t consist of every Avenger using their strongest attacks to defeat Thanos / some alien army, which is what everyone is expecting right now.
“Thanos already respects certain Avengers and he’s not your psychopath villain so I can totally see him teaming up with his enemy if necessary.”
Another theory, posted by user ZeekOwl91, picked up on the damage Thanos caused to reality by using the Infinity Stones.
“Thanos’ misuse of the Gauntlet would have sent the universe into utter chaos, but the Avengers will prevail,” they wrote.
“But, his actions, coupled with the destruction of Asgard (and with it, the force to hold back whatever’s coming), could spell the untimely release of a much greater threat than anyone would have anticipated.
“If I were to guess, I think it would have to be Galactus (probably getting released from the Quantum Realm).”
As it stands, the events of Avengers 4 remain an almost total mystery – with even its title unknown at this point.
Infinity War ended with Thanos using the Stones to wipe out half of all living beings in the universe, including Marvel heroes such as Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, King T’Challa and many more.
And with many of them already confirmed to be appearing in more films, all that remains to be seen is how they can return from ash.
Avengers 4 is out in spring 2019.
