Avengers 4: Incredible theory predicts HUGE Gamora storyline after Infinity War death

The character was hurled to her death by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War as he sacrificed her in order to gain the Soul Stone.

It’s been noted before how Thanos’s arc differs on screen to on the page in the comics, where his desire to collect the Infinity Stones is driven by his infatuation for Mistress Death.

Now, a Reddit theory that’s been 89% Upvoted reckons Mistress Death will come into play in Avengers 4 – but in a much different way than anybody would be expecting.

User SpideyFan914 wrote: “[The Mistress Death plot] is nowhere to be seen in the movie, replacing his romantic love with a familial love for Gamora.

“However, there is one visual homage: when Thanos and Gamora first arrive on Vormir, the Red Skull’s initial appearance (in the wraithlike garbs) is very similar to Death’s appearance in the books.

“What does this have to do with Gamora? Well, remember how Red Skull got there: he was sacrificed to the Tesseract/Space Stone, similar to how Gamora was sacrificed to the Soul Stone.

“So why isn’t Red Skull Mistress Death? The Space Stone is a bit more tangential to her purpose, as opposed to the Soul Stone which deals with… y’know, souls.

“Plus, Gamora’s sacrifice had a highly significant consequence: the death of half the freaking universe.”

They added: “Now Death probably wouldn’t have a single, consistent form. (Even in the books, the abstract entities appear through built manifestations – we never actually deal with their raw forms.)

“Thus, if Gamora’s sacrifice is significant enough, she could take Gamora as a new manifestation, having Gamora sort of become Mistress Death.

“I think it would be pretty epic, a cool reference to the source material that doesn’t undermine the updates to Thanos, and a nice way to keep Zoe Saldana in the mix without completely undoing her death scene (best scene in the movie, imo).

“She’d still be dead, and might not maintain any of her previous personality.”

The user acknowledged that this theory is unlikely to come to fruition in Avengers 4 – but with Saldana confirmed to be in the cast in some capacity, she’s got to appear somehow…

Avengers 4 will star most, if not all, of the Marvel heroes killed off in Infinity War – but how exactly they return, and whether it’s in the ‘present day’ or in flashback, remains to be seen.

Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will join the efforts to overthrow Thanos, after her own solo movie comes out in the Spring.

Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019.
