Avengers 4: Jeff Goldblum and Benicio Del Toro set for Grandmaster Collector solo movie?

Both stars play Elders of the Universe in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, almost immortal beings who’ve basically been around since the very beginning.

And back in March Grandmaster star Goldblum admitted he’d love to see a crossover with Del Toro’s Collector.

According to the Toronto Sun, he said: “But, in the comic books, the character of the Grandmaster is the brother of The Collector, played by Benicio del Toro, who I adore.

“So I would enjoy doing something with him. That would be fun.”

And now Del Toro has backed this idea of a crossover movie for the on-screen brothers who are yet to meet in the MCU.

Speaking with Screen Rant, he said: “No, I haven’t talked to him, but it would be an honour for me to work with him.

“I’ve been a fan and you know, it’d be great. It’d be great.”

Del Toro debuted as The Collector, who lives on Knowhere, in Thor: The Dark World’s end credits scene, before having a more prominent role in Guardians of the Galaxy where he explained the Infinity Stones.

He also had a brief scene in Avengers Infinity War, although his fate is unknown since Thanos used the Reality Stone to create a fake version of The Collector.

Meanwhile Goldblum’s The Grandmaster only appeared in Thor Ragnarok.

Nevertheless since post-Avengers 4 is supposedly going to be a more cosmic turn for the franchise, the two could certainly team up in their own movie if Marvel boss Kevin Feige made it a reality.

Last year Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn teased this vibe for Marvel Phase 4.

Speaking in a Facebook Q&A, he said: “One of the things I’m doing with creating Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 — it will take place after the next two Avengers movies — and it will help to set up the next 10, 20 years of Marvel movies.

“It’s going to really expand the cosmic universe.”
