Avengers 4 SHOCK: Brie Larson ‘I was NOT sure Captain Marvel was right for me’ Here’s why

The Oscar-winning star is set to make her big screen debut into the MCU as Captain Marvel next March.

Having been teased in the Avengers Infinity War end credits scene, it’s clear she will play an important role in the fight back against Thanos in Avengers 4.

However Larson has admitted taking on Captain Marvel felt like such a huge decision for her and her family that she wasn’t sure if taking on the superhero would be the right thing.

Speaking with the Associated Press, the 28-year-old said: “There’s a lot about it that felt like a big decision and it’s not just a big decision for myself, it’s a big decision for my family and my partner and for my friends.

Larson continued: “It’s a big change for everybody and I wasn’t sure if it was the right thing for me.

“I never want to do, make artistic decisions that will feel like a burden or that would take me away from the parts of my life that I find fulfilling.

“So Marvel was super patient and allowed me a lot of time to think it over. “And then once I felt like I had made the right decision, which was doing it, I got both feet in and I’m really happy.”

Last week Marvel boss Kevin Feige teased Captain Marvel would be key in Marvel Phase 4.

Speaking at CineEurope on Wednesday, he said: “Captain Marvel is about to take the lead in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Of course this would imply that she is essentially taking over from Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, leading to concerns he’ll be killed off.

But this might be the perfect way to end Tony Stark’s character arc, sacrificing himself for the future of the MCU going forward.

Avengers 4 concept art has also leaked depicting the surviving superheroes in their own Avengers team.

Captain Marvel is released in UK cinemas on March 8, 2019 and Avengers 4 will follow on April 26, 2019.
