Played by director Taika Waititi, the character of Korg stole the show in Thor: Ragnarok (directed by Waititi himself).

But when it came to Infinity War, Korg’s fate was not clearly spelt out.

Now fans are wondering what happened to their favourite, if lesser known, hero.

Marvel writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have finally spilt the beans on what happened to Korg.

AVENGERS 4: IS LOKI IN AVENGERS 4?

The opening commentary of the Infinity War DVD has revealed what happened to Korg, with the cryptic message: “All I can say is pray for Korg.”

Quite an inauspicious warning from the writers.

What happened to Korg?

Korg was a fan favourite for his role in Thor: Ragnarok.

He is one of the gladiators forced to battle each other by the cosmic being and ruler of Sakaar, the Grandmaster.

AVENGERS 4: DID MARVEL JUST LET A HUGE SPOILER SLIP ABOUT THANOS?

Korg speaks politely, with a New Zealand accent, and is known for being upfront about what he’s thinking.

Infinity War picks up immediately with the aftermath the post-credits scene of Thor: Ragnarok.

One of Ragnarok’s post-credits scenes showed Thor and Loki standing on the bridge of the Asgardians refuge ship when a large shadow suddenly dwarfs their ship.

Infinity War confirmed the ship which made this huge shadow belonged to Thanos.

AVENGERS 4 CAST: WILL THE FANTASTIC FOUR BE IN THE NEXT AVENGERS MOVIE

Avengers: Infinity War starts with a distress call from Thor and Loki’s ship, then Thanos not only boarded the ship but killed half of the Asgardians.

After all, Thanos’ plan to balance the universe by wiping out half of life.

This scene was where many of Marvel’s favourite heroes, or villains as it were, met their maker including Loki and Heimdall.

However, characters whose fates were not shown included Miek, and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, and the aforementioned Korg.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely’s inauspicious warning, however, doesn’t clarify whether Korg is alive or dead, so Avengers 4 may see him return, however unlikely it may seem.

Avengers 4 is in cinemas Friday, April 26, 2019.
