Avengers 4: Tony Stark to make WORST POSSIBLE sacrifice? Read heartbreaking theory

Avengers: Infinity War ended with half of all humanity being killed off when Thanos collected all six Infinity Stones.

Now, with sequel Avengers 4 due in cinemas next year, one theory has floated a possible solution for how the fallen Marvel favourites can make their inevitable return.

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), aka Iron Man, is expected to play a huge part in the resolution, given that it was he who essentially kickstarted the whole MCU back in 2008.

Reddit user Pluralizes said, in a theory that’s been 94% Upvoted, that evidence points to the movie starting after a time jump – with casting for an older Cassie Lang, and Black Widow’s hair being seen longer.

The theorist wrote: “Post Infinity War, Tony has settled down with Pepper and they have a son.

“Soon thereafter, Ant-Man shows up and time travel is introduced, so now Tony hatches a plan to reverse the snap… However, this means forfeiting the current timeline where he has his son.”

They added: “After they arrive on Vormir with direction from Nebula, they will be told a sacrifice needs to be made.

“It was introduced [that] Red Skull can see everyone’s soul as the Stonekeeper when he addressed Thanos as Son of Alars, so it is possible he will peer into Tony’s soul and learn he is in a harrowing quandary: sacrificing the timeline where he has his son to save half the universe.

“As the Stonekeeper explains this, a tear rolls down Tony’s cheek.

“Maybe this will qualify as a sufficient sacrifice to claim the soul stone?”

So will Tony sacrifice his own child on Vormir – as Thanos did to Gamora – in order to bring back the likes of Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Star-Lord, Doctor Strange and countless others?

Time will tell – and in the meantime, Ant-Man and the Wasp, which leads into the events of Infinity War, has finally been released in the UK.

It will be followed by the 1990s-set Captain Marvel next March, introducing Brie Larson’s all-powerful Carol Danvers to the MCU.

Avengers 4 is out on April 26, 2019.
