Avengers: Dave Bautista has ‘really PUSHED’ for a Drax solo movie
The 49-year-old star has so far appeared in two Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Marvel‘s Avengers Infinity War.
While he’s also set to appear in next year’s Avengers 4, his return in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is not so certain following the firing of director James Gunn.
Nevertheless Bautista has revealed he’s previously pushed for a Drax solo movie prequel exploring his character’s past.
Speaking with MTV International, the actor said: “I think it’s a beautiful story and I think it’s been lost and overlooked a little bit.”
Bautista continued: “It’s a beautiful and heartbreaking emotional thing to know where that love for his family and that heartbreak over his family being lost and murdered, where it comes from I think.
“I really pushed and fought for the Drax standalone film but I don’t think it’s ever going to happen.
“I really wish they would because I think there’s a story to be told there.
“And I think the fans would really love to see that story, even if it’s not me portraying Drax, I just think it is an interesting story to tell.”
Host Ross replied: “That’s quite unusual in Hollywood.”
To which Bautista said: “I don’t think I’m your typical Hollywood guy.”
Dave Bautista returns as Drax in Avengers 4, which is released in UK cinemas on April 26, 2019.
