Avengers Infinity War deaths teased by writers: ‘We will say goodbye to BIG characters’

The Marvel movie is out later this week on a big wave of publicity, and it’s no secret that – between this film and next year’s Avengers 4 – some key cast members will be making their final appearances.

Speaking to Uproxx, the writers opened up on the exits – confirming that they’ll be more significant than just a couple of background extras.

McFeely said: “These two movies are the end of something and the beginning of something else, so we are going to say goodbye to people.

“We’re not just going to say goodbye to ‘seventh Asgardian on the left.’”

On whether Marvel bosses pushed for them to write out certain heroes, McFeely added: “Well, it’s a group effort. So we all sit around and are like, okay, this would be a wonderful conclusion to this person’s arc. And Marvel has to go, well, do we think economically that’s a good conclusion to this person’s arc?

“And that certainly will play into it, but there’s a reason why they’re here – because they don’t run scared.

“And they are not afraid to do the right thing story-wise even if some bean counter says, ‘You could squeeze more money if you kept going.’

“They have a lot of confidence that there are a lot of questions and if you execute them well, people will come to watch them.”

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo today issued a spoiler warning to fans, ahead of tonight’s LA premiere.

Posting an image of a letter to Twitter, they said: “To the greatest fans in the world, tonight at our premiere in Los Angeles, we are screening Avengers Infinity War in its entirety for the first time ever.

“If you truly want to avoid all spoilers until you see the film, we recommend you abstain from social media, and the internet in general, until you have an opportunity to get to the theatre.”

“As always, good luck and happy viewing. The Russo Brothers. #ThanosDemandsYourSilence.”

The blockbuster has already sold more advance tickets than the last seven MCU movies combined.

Avengers: Infinity War is out on Thursday in the UK.
