Avengers Infinity War directors tease Avengers 4 DEATHS and ‘INCREDIBLY high cost’ to come

WARNING SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS INFINITY WAR AHEAD

Well they certainly went there didn’t they?

With 20 Marvel superheroes dead, Avengers Infinity War left fans in complete shock.

But with the likes of Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and the Guardians of the Galaxy set for sequels over the next few years, it’s certain they’ll return from the dead like characters in the comics, isn’t it?

After all, the Avengers could just get the Time Stone off Thanos and reverse the events, couldn’t they?

Not without “an incredibly high cost” tease directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

Speaking with Variety, Anthony said: “I will say this: There is a real commitment on our end to the stakes.

“Yes, this is a fantasy world, and yes, remarkable things can happen in a fantasy world, but…”

Joe finished for him: “They come at an incredibly high cost.”

Joe continued: “For us, there will always be stakes and the stakes have been progressing from film to film.

“And I think you can extrapolate that they will continue to deepen in Avengers 4.”

So just who is next to kick the bucket in Avengers 4?

With a “sly smile”, Joe added: “Just you wait.”

In terms of a high cost, one popular fan theory is that those who “died” were merely transported to another universe, where the other 50% of the universe “died”.

The Reddit user wrote: “So here’s my theory. I don’t think even Thanos realised exactly how his wish would be fulfilled. Rather than people disappearing into nothing, I think he split the universe into two parallel universes through a single massive quantum event.

“One universe is what we saw at the end of the movie, the other is identical but contains all the people who appeared to disappear in the first.

“What those people will see is everyone else disappear. The quest for the Avengers is now to find a way to tunnel from one universe to the other, and join them back together.”

Perhaps the “high cost” could be some staying in one, which would explain why the original Avengers, aren’t in Marvel Phase 4 – as expected.
