Avengers Infinity War end scene: WHERE was Captain Marvel before? THIS reveals all
Captain Marvel is coming. Of that everyone is sure.
The shock Infinity War end credit sceen which showed Nick Fury and Mari Hill die in the Snap also showed the SHIELD leader send out one last message on an ancient pager.
The screen showed the symbol for Marvel’s most powerful superhero.
It was a masterstroke but the MCU also sets up the huge question of where one of the strongest beings in the entire universe has been all this time and why she hasn’t helped her home planet before.
The eagle-eyed team at MCU Cosmic spotted an announcement by Marvel for their upcoming comic releases for this autumn.
Tucked away among them is the preview for the first Captain Marvel project directly linked to the Cinematic Universe and it promises to finally explain where she has been and explore her close connection to Nick Fury and Maria Hill. Yes, Mariah Hill, but more on that later.
The announcement said: “Before CAROL DANVERS takes flight in 2019’s first Marvel Studios film, immerse yourself in this all-new adventure!”
“Spinning out of the mysterious events of Avengers: Infinity War, NICK FURY and MARIA HILL set off on life-or-death missions that lead directly to the appearance of CAPTAIN MARVEL!”
This is hugely exciting and also sets up a bewildering number of questions.
Didn’t Nick Fury and Mariah Hill die in the Snap? So how will the two current piles of dust set off on these missions?
The Captain Marvel movie is set in the 1990’s, so is the new comic referring to events back then? This also poses a major problem.
Hill would have been a child or teenager back in the 1990s and certainly not part of any Fury squad or team.
It seems likely that the new bridging comic will cover the years between the Captain Marvel movie and Infinity War. Surely this will finally reveal where the Captain has been all those years when Earth was in peril?
Has she still been sorting out the Kree/Skrulls war? As rumoured, has she been off chasing down Thanos or a way to defeat him? And how will ths new comic reveal anythng without spoiling the actual Captain Marvel movie?
There is no official release date for the comic yet but it will be the standard 32 pages and priced $3.99.
