Avengers Infinity War Fortnite: Directors REVEAL ALL on huge Thanos crossover event

Thanos is heading for Fortnite’s Battle Royale mode today for a limited time, as revealed just yesterday.

The Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup mode will be standard fare, with one hundred players descending on the map, fighting until just one remains.

But this time the notorious Infinity Gauntlet – used by Thanos to collect all of the Infinity Stones in the Marvel blockbuster – will also be in play.

Whoever finds it will transform into Thanos, and have all the almighty power that comes with the six Infinity Stones -the ones that famously wreaked havoc in the movie.

Yesterday Joe Russo told Entertainment Weekly why such a huge gaming/movie crossover event is even happening.

“Over the past few months, while we were editing Infinity War, we’d take breaks to hop on and get in a few games,” he said.

“And then we started thinking, how cool would it be to have some kind of Avengers–Fortnite mashup? So we stalked Donald [Mustard, Epic Games creative director].”

Mustard himself said: “Out of the blue, I get this call from Joe.

“And after a bit of geeking out over each other’s work, we start brainstorming these crazy ideas.

“It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about.

“About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”

He added: “Infinity War blew us away, and the Russos, Kevin Feige, and the whole team at Marvel have been incredible to work with.

“This kind of opportunity, where you have this mutual respect for someone’s work and you’re on the same page about doing something cool for fans, is rare and really exciting. We hope players love it.”

Avengers: Infinity War is the film event of the year, so the Fortnite phenomenon seems like a natural fit.

It’s busted records at the box office; scoring the highest opening weekend of all time at the USA.

It also earned the second highest second weekend in the country ever, behind only Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
