Avengers Infinity War: Is Captain Marvel in it or not?

Rumours started spreading like wildfire last week.

The Captain Marvel standalone movie is scheduled to arrive in April 2019 but suddenlt fans spotted clues that the character could make her debut a full year earlier in 2018’s Infinity War.

A cheeky tweet from the Captain Marvel director combined with a new casting call announcemnet was enough for many to put two and two together and come up with the biggest superhero cameo of them all.

After a staggering number of announcements at SanDiego Comic-Con last weekend, the Russo brothers have finally put fans out of their misery.

Captain Marvel director Ryan Fleck had posted an image on Instagram of a military air force base, implying that the cats and USAF base had helped his project, presumably with filming.

Combined with a new casting call for extras to play military roles in the Avengers Infinity War reshoots this August, it led many to suppose that Captain Marvel might make an early debut as her human incarnation, Captain Carol Danvers. 

One half of the Russo brothers, Joe, spoke for himself and his brother Anthony when he addressed these new rumours.

This came just as Avengers Infinity War footage from San Diego Comic-Con was leaked online.

ComicBook.Com aksed the director director to confirm whether Captain Marvel or Carol Danvers would appear in his film.

He kept it short and sweet when he said: “She’s not in Avengers 3.” 

The bad news was tempered, whoever, by his teasing comment that she might be in Avengers 4 instead. Avengers 4 will be out in cinemas in May 2019, just weeks after the Captain Marvel standalone.
