Avengers Infinity War: Which Marvel characters are in Infinity War – in pictures

More than 10 years after the release of Iron Man, Avengers Infinity War brings about the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 

Fans have witnessed 19 films in the 10 year span, joining their favourite heroes as they fight across the cosmos. 

Dozens of characters have hit the big screen, with big-hitters Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and Spider-Man all taking their place in front of Thanos to save the universe.

The film has a tricky job of balancing dozens of big-name celebs and character screen time, but every character gets their big moment in 2018’s biggest film. 

Which Marvel characters are in Avengers Infinity War?

Avengers Infinity War sees Earth’s Mightiest Heroes take on the Mad Titan Thanos as they try to stop him from collecting six ancient Infinity Stones, which would make him the most powerful being in the universe. 

All 19 previous films have been leading up to this one moment, with a whole slew of characters helping to stop Thanos or assisting in his goal to wipe out half of all life.

Popular characters new and old make an appearance, with Infinity War featuring more than 35 major Marvel Characters throughout its runtime. 

All characters in Infinity War are attempting to stop the most dangerous villain in the Universe, Thanos. Josh Brolin adds to his cameo appearances by flexing his considerable muscles in an attempt to collect all 6 infinity stones. 

The biggest heroes attempting to stop him are Iron Man and Captain America. Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans make their penultimate appearance in Infinity War after having a serious fall out in Captain America: Civil War. 

Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is also fresh from the Ragnarok, having just escaped the destruction of Asgard with his newly found friends Korg and Valkyrie. 

Neither of these two make an appearance in Infinity War, but Thor’s other two companions, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Hulk (Bruce Banner) are among the survivors. 

Black Widow, Sam Wilson’ The Falcon, and War Machine are all battle ready as they take on Thanos.

Benedict Cumberbatch returns to protect the Time Stone as Doctor Strange, being helped by Benedict Wong’s as his namesake, Wong.

Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) is back to protect Wakanda and some secrets in the African city with Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o).

Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen-Winstead) has been busy on a romantic break with Vision (Paul Bethany) in Edinburgh before all hell breaks loose.

The entire Guardians cast, including Star Lord, Gamora, Groot, Rocket Racoon, and Drax are jumping into the action after their brief sell wth Ego the Planet in GotG2. They also have additional character Mantis with them too. 

Gamora’s half sister, Nebula, will play a pivotal role in the battle to come, as she took on Thanos and his goons. 

The Black Order, Thanos’ even henchmen also make an appearance, with Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Lockjaw and Black Dwarf all hunting the remains stones. 

The stakes are high in Avengers Infinity War, with has the known universe at risk of being wiped out, should the Avengers fail to beat the Mad Titan. 

Avengers 4 will hit cinemas May 3, 2019.
