WARNING: Major spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War.

Fans who have seen Infinity War will know that the new ensemble epic ends with several Marvel favourites disappearing into nothingness after Thanos executes The Snap – wiping out 50% of all humanity.

Among the dead are several shocking people – including King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), the Black Panther himself.

So what does this mean for the next Wakanda-set movie?

Well, fans have already been speculated that many of the film’s deaths will be somehow reversed, particularly when old quotes from a producer confirmed that Spider-Man: Homecoming’s sequel will begin “within minutes” of the end of 2019’s Avengers 4 – meaning Peter Parker’s demise is likely to be undone.

As for King T’Challa, Kevin Feige – Marvel CEO – is being considerably more careful in talking about any plans for any characters after Infinity War’s as-yet-untitled sequel, May next year.

“We definitely want Ryan [Coogler, director of Black Panther] to come back and that’s actively being worked out right now,” he said, according to Collider.

“When will it be? A lot of it will be when Ryan wants to and not rushing anything, but I think we have an idea of when it will be.

“But, again, [we’re] not going to announce any post-Avengers 4 movies until hopefully after Avengers 4, which is another reason we’re not going to Comic-Con.”

Which confirms that there will be no confirmation on anything to do with Black Panther 2 for at least another year.

Fans have already been speculating on what could happen if King T’Challa is never seen again – with some suggesting that his sister Shuri (Letitia Wright) could take up the role.

“Next time you see someone asking ‘IS [movie] THE NEXT BLACK PANTHER?’, tell them: no, Shuri is,” one person tweeted.

“So will Shuri be taking the crown now or what’s going to happen will we be getting another black panther movie,” asked someone else.

In another sign that the deaths in Infinity War may not be all they seemed, Zoe Saldana (Gamora) has appeared to confirm that she appears in Avengers 4.

Avengers: Infinity War is out now.
