The star is known more for her energetic performances and infectious hits than her vocal ability, but this newly-emerged clip proves that she’s more than capable of holding a tune.

She can be heard recording a take of the song Toxic, which went on to become one of her biggest smashes.

In just two days, over 350,000 plays have been accumulated on the YouTube upload, with fans rushing to lap up the sound of the pop icon’s voice before heavy post-production.

Britney is currently performing in Las Vegas in the final months of her Piece of Me residency, and despite the strong reviews, it has been noted that she barely – if at all – sings live.

She also suffered minor backlash following the release of her 2013 album Britney Jean when what was claimed to be unedited, off-key vocals of the song ‘Alien’ surfaced online.

This was covered however by producer William Orbit, who slammed the leaker and insisted Spears was warming up at the time.

More recently, she sang along to some of her hits during James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke last year, but was often drowned out by the producer’s loud accompaniments.

Spears released her most recent album, Glory, last year; earning her best UK chart position and critical plaudits for many years.

Earlier this year she announced some major international shows and was rumoured to include UK dates – although none have emerged as of yet.

On Twitter, she said simply: “Excited to be performing abroad this summer!”

“Britney has wanted to tour for ages, her time in Vegas has given her so much more confidence and she can’t wait,” a source had told the Daily Star.

“The current plan is for the Piece of Me show to be duplicated around the world instead of a whole new set being created from scratch but discussions are in the early stages.”
