Camilla Duchess of Cornwall flaunts huge engagement ring – is outfit clue to Queen hopes?

Camilla Parker-Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, wore a bright summery colour today.

The blonde 70-year-old slipped into a purple dress with a pretty gold paisley patter on the pleated skirt.

The richly coloured dressed evoked a royal tradition.

Purple is associated with royalty, and one of Britain’s greatest ever queens.

Elizabeth I is said to have forbidden anyone except her and her close family to wear the colour.

The dye used to create purple garments was rare and expensive, making it a colour for the elite.

Camilla Parker Bowles will one day be the wife of a king, King Charles.

As such, she may be given the title of Queen.

Perhaps Camilla is hinting at her aspirations to hold the grand title.

The Duchess of Cornwall was at an event alone tonight, without Prince Charles by her side.

She met Dame Marina Warner, President of Royal Society of Literature at The Royal Society of Literature “40 Under 40” fellow induction at The British Library.

The royal wore cream shows with a midi heel a tiny bows on the toes.

She added her huge engagement ring, which was once the Queen Mother’s, and her everyday earrings.

She also wore a necklace with a chain detail and a few trinkets on her wrists.

Camilla Parker Bowles’ engagement ring was valued by an expert for Express.co.uk.

Camilla’s ring is thought to be one of the most expensive in the royal collection.

However, expert Grant Mobley said: “I would imagine the approximate 5ct large emerald cut centre diamond flanked by 6 baguettes in an art deco pattern and platinum setting would be worth around $225,000 USD, or £166,400.”

Camilla Parker-Bowles’ jewellery collection features many jewels once loved by the Queen Mother. 

However, she also has a large number of pieces given to her by Charles.

The Duchess is a lucky woman to have a husband who can afford such lavish jewellery.
