What is the plot of Can You Ever Forgive Me?
The official plot synopsis reads: “When Lee Israel is no longer able to get published because she has fallen out of step with current tastes, she turns her art form to deception, abetted by her loyal friend Jack.”
The biographer has covered the likes of Katharine Hepburn, Tallulah Bankhead, Estee Lauder and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen.

When she makes a discovery of a letter authored by Fanny Bryce, Lee turns to selling it to help pay her rent.
Soon she discovers a knack for forging these letters, and what starts as a lark turns into one of the biggest literary frauds.
