Captain Marvel: ‘Much set in outer space and inspired by Terminator 2’ says Kevin Feige
She was teased very briefly in the end credits scene of Avengers Infinity War and gets her own solo movie next March.
Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel will be inspired by action films from that period.
Speaking with Total Film, producer Kevin Feige said: “There are definitely homages to our favourite 90s action films.
“Much of the movie takes place in outer space,” he said, but Earth scenes take inspiration from Terminator 2.
Hosted by Entertainment Weekly many fans and some outlets reckon it could be the first Captain Marvel trailer, although we’re not so convinced.
It’s common for Marvel Studios to release official pictures of their latest movies before a trailer – something Entertainment Weekly previously had an exclusive for with Thor Ragnarok.
Also when they release a teaser it’s usually not through an outlet, but through the official Marvel social media feeds.
With this in mind our bet is a few first look official photos, alongside a set visit with interviews. That, or the behind-the-scenes featurette that was shown at CinemaCon this summer.
Captain Marvel will also join the survivors in Avengers 4 in the fight against Thanos.
And after that she’s expected to lead the new generation into Marvel Phase 4.
Presumably she’ll be something of a figurehead for the series like Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man.
Captain Marvel is released in UK cinemas on March 8, 2019.
