Captain Marvel powers: Is Captain Marvel a woman? How to watch teaser trailer?

Marvel fans are awaiting the release of the much anticipated Captain Marvel, with the teaser trailer released today. 

Captain Marvel is brought to life by Kong: Skull Island actress Brie Larson. 

The film is set in 1990, giving those who watched the trailer a taste of nostalgia as a Blockbuster Video store makes an appearance. 

In fact, Captain Marvel herself can be seen crashing into the now obsolete video rental store.

Close-ups of pagers and nineties outfits worn by extras also give away Captain Marvel’s era.

Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) is a central character Captain Marvel, appearing younger than his actual years. 

The computer-generated younger Fury also possesses both of his eyes, a first for Marvel fans who are used to the Avengers leader’s eyepatch. 

Other big names starring in the Marvel flick are Jude Law and Lee Pace, playing characters Mar-Vell and Ronan the Accuser respectively. 

Fans will be eager to see whether Jude Law’s Mar-Vell lives up to his comic book hype. 

Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) plays the main protagonist, an alien named Talos who, as usual, is trying to lead an invasion of Earth.

Currently trending at number one on YouTube, Captain Marvel will definitely cause a stir in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel, also known as Carol Danvers, displays some of her powers alongside her training in the army during the one-minute 56-second trailer. 

Her powers are varied, including the ability to fly, superhuman strength, energy manipulation and energy absorption. 

We also get a glimpse at Danvers backstory – with her high-ranking Air Force pilot training days shown, as well as her suited up to fly. 

Her true origins appear to be a mystery to her, as she answers Fury’s “You’re not from around here?” with “It’s hard to explain.
