Captain Marvel trailer: These are the characters returning for the Captain Marvel movie
Captain Marvel claims the mantle of being the only movie set wholly in a period other than present day.
While Captain America did, of course, spend some time in the 1940s fighting in World War II, the upcoming Captain Marvel is entirely set in the 1990s.
The 90s may not be a decade beyond recollection for many Marvel fans, and it gives Marvel a chance to bring back some familiar faces.
Here are all the characters returning for the Captain Marvel movie.
Nick Fury
Fans who sat through the credits of Avengers: Infinity War were subjected to even more destruction.
When Thanos snapped half of life out of existence, Nick Fury was one of the 50 per cent to be vanquished.
His final moments were spent contacting Captain Marvel – so it only makes sense Nick Fury would return.
Captain Marvel sees him with plenty of age regression, and both his eyes.
Phil Coulson
Like his cohort Nick Fury, Phil Coulson has also been treated to a bit of time reversal.
Actor Clark Gregg reprised his role as the S.H.I.E.L.D agent Phil Coulson.
Coulson has appeared in a wealth of Marvel movies, and also featured prominently in the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, despite his character having been killed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Loki during The Avengers.
To see him reprise his role on the big screen is surely exciting for the dedicated fans of this character.
Ronan the Accuser
Ronan the Accuser was the main villain of the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
A fanatical Kree zealot, Ronan was attempting to wipe out the enemy of the Krees by using the Power Stone.
He was defeated, and in fact, died in the first Guardians of the Galaxy.
In Captain Marvel, Ronan has not gone fully rogue yet, but he is pictured looking ominously at the Earth, perhaps hinting at his true nature.
Korath the Pursuer
Like Ronan, Korath was also introduced into the MCU through the first Guardians of the Galaxy as a mercenary working for Ronan.
In the Captain Marvel movie Korath is a member of Starforce, the elite Kree team alongside Carol Danvers.
You have to look closely to spot Korath in the trailer.
He is visible in the corner of the frame when the Starforce team is flying – when most fans were distracted by the sight of Captain Marvel’s helmet.

Captain Marvel is out in cinemas on March 8, 2019.
