So far, Captain Marvel has remained enigmatic to Marvel fans – bar a quick reference to her character at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.

There are few details about what part she’ll play in Avengers 4, as well as the Captain Marvel’s solo movie.

When is Captain Marvel released in the UK and USA?

Unlike Ant-Man and the Wasp, Captain Marvel lands in cinemas on both sides of the pond at the same time.

Captain Marvel has a release date of March 8, 2019.

Brie Larson, who stars as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, has recently posted a photo on Instagram that indicates filming has finished.

The image shows a signed Captain Marvel clapperboard on a calendar with days throughout the month of June and July crossed out.

The word “HOME” is written by the date of July 7th.

Ryan Fleck, a co-director, shared an Instagram post a few days earlier teasing filming wrapped on July 6 as well.

Kevin Feige, Marvel’s head, revealed fans can expect the first Captain Marvel trailer soon, but not too soon.

Speaking to ComicBook.com as part of Ant-Man and the Wasp’s promotion, he divulged a detail about Captain Marvel’s trailer.

“I think there’s still a few months on it,” he said.

Given Captain Marvel has finished filming, the delay in dropping the teaser comes as a surprise to fans.

Feige said of the plot of Captain Marvel: “You already know as much as you need to.”

“We’ve got Skrulls, we’ve got the Kree, it takes place in the 90s, you have Sam Jackson with two eyes and Carol Danvers, a unique telling of Carol Danvers origin story.

Feige also said Captain Marvel will be “very important” to Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4, which means the rumours of Carol Danvers being integral to the next phase are highly likely.

Avengers 4 will be the final instalment of the MCU Phase 3, clearing the way for a new band of superheroes to take centre stage.

Feige added: “I think it would be amazing, another 10 years; another 20 films or so.

“We only focus on one step at a time but that’s all about continuing to surprise with the stories, go unexpected places, continue to play with new, fresh, unexpected genres and then introduce characters that people might have heard of or a beloved big fan base like Captain Marvel or characters like Guardians where before we made that, people had never even heard of them.”

Carol Danvers will be here for a long, long time.

Captain Marvel is in cinemas March 8, 2019.
