Captain Marvel: Why Brie Larson REALLY took Carol Danvers role – as trailer finally lands

Larson, 28, was on Good Morning America today to launch the first footage from her MCU debut, which is in cinemas next March.

“You know, I haven’t quite got used to it yet,” she said. “I still feel like myself.

“I don’t feel like a superhero – this is all so surreal and new to me.”

She added: “What brought me to this film was Carol, was this character.

“She’s so inspiring and incredible, and so to have the opportunity to play a role like this is amazing and I hope that just a little bit of her amazingness and her strength can rub off on me.”

Asked if she’s seen the finished product yet, the Oscar-winner laughed: “No, I haven’t – and even if I did, I would still say no!”

Among Larson’s co-stars is Annette Bening, although the exact details of her role have not yet been announced.

“It’s incredible [to have worked with her],” Larson said. “She’s such a wonderful scene partner.

“I’ve looked up to her my whole life. It added an extra element of surreal to be in the same space as her.”

The Room star was also quizzed on what it was like to put on the Captain Marvel blue and red suit, which was first revealed in Entertainment Weekly earlier this month.

“Just wild,” she quipped.

“My first thought was, ‘am I going to be a character at Disneyland? ‘Cause I feel like it!”

Captain Marvel also stars Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Ben Mendelsohn, Samuel L Jackson and many more.

Set in the 1990s, it will be released less than two months before the present-day-set Avengers 4, in which Larson will also star.

Captain Marvel was seen being contacted by Jackson’s Nick Fury in the end credits scene on Avengers: Infinity War last year.

Captain Marvel is out on March 8.
