Crown Princess Mary of Denmark dresses like medieval maiden with family

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark looked stunning today in traditional garb.

The Australian royal, who is 46, was visiting Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands.

This is the first day of a four day trip she is undertaking with her family.

Mary wore a red striped dress with a green petticoat, embroidered with daisies.

On top of this she wore a black cape, with a silver leaf clasp at the neck.

Another large silver brooch was also on her petticoat.

Sat with another woman in traditional dress, Mary seemed to be enjoying the fun.

She had a small bunch of flowers, with daisies and small yellow blooms, lying on her lap.

Her outfit was set off by her coral nails, huge diamond engagement ring and diamond earrings.

Crown Princess Mary is on the trip with her husband Crown Prince Frederik, 50, Prince Christian, 12, Princess Isabella, 11, Princess Josephine, seven, and Prince Vincent, seven.

Crown Princess Mary is compared to Kate Middleton often. 

The two look remarkable similar, with their dark hair and pale complexions.

Mary wore an ivory duchess satin dress with a scoop neckline.

The skirt was made of 31 meters of tulle and she had a 19.6 foot long train.

She wore a veil passed down from Crown Princess Margaret and added her wedding tiara, a new piece commissioned by the Queen and Prince Henrik.

The Australian met her husband in a pub and had no idea of his aristocratic status.
