Eugenie’s wedding dress could be created by designer who made Meghan’s second £80,000 gown
Princess Eugenie’s wedding gown is the subject of a lot of speculation.
Now some have wondered if the Queen’s granddaughter will opt for the same designer Meghan Markle chose.
Could Eugenie opt for hugely popular British designer Stella McCartney?
The stunning lily white gown has been estimate to cost around £80,000 – a huge sum by any stretch.
Stella McCartney is the celebrity offspring of Beatles star Paul. She said after designing the Duchess of Sussex’s dress in WWD: “I am so proud and honoured to have been chosen by the Duchess of Sussex to make her evening gown and represent British design.”
Celebrity stylist Lucas Armitage told Femail for the Mail Online she believed gown would have cost £20,000 for the fabric.
This would be increased to £80,000 by £25,000 worth of fittings, £10,000 in designing costs and £40,000 in paying the seamstress for pattern cutting and labour.
Princess Eugenie has the chain-detail hobo bag from Stella McCartney.
Another common thread tying the designer and the princess is that they both have a keen interest in sustainability.
Eugenie has banned plastic from her wedding, telling Vogue: “My whole house is anti-plastic now…and Jack and I want our wedding to be like that as well.”
Stella McCartney is famous for her ethical and vegan designs.
Other designers that have been tipped by Tatler to design the gown include Erdem Moralıoğlu or Vivienne Westwood.
Eugenie told in a recent interview British Vogue: “I’m not telling anyone who is making it, but I can say it is a British based designer.
“As soon as we announced the wedding, I knew the designer, and the look, straight away.”
Details on how Princess Eugenie’s wedding day will look have been revealed.
Talking to Express.co.uk, FlorismartUK’s expert florist, Katie-Jane Hermes said: “Looking back at previous recent Royal weddings and the style of florals they have been carrying, it can be expected that Princess Eugenie will carry a petite bouquet with delicate symbolic flowers.
“If her mother’s flowers are anything to go by the symbolism will be huge!”
Going on to discuss, Sarah Ferguson’s choice of flowers on her big day, Kate-Jane continued: “To her marriage to the Duke of York, Sarah carried Gardenias, Roses, Lily of the valley, Lilies and Myrtle.
“Gardenias are an expression of secret love and denotes sincerity. Lily of the valley which has been a staple of previous Royal bouquets (including Meghan Markle’s) means a return to happiness. The Lilies represent purity while the rose is a long-held symbol for love.”
