Faith Herbert: Is THIS the new plus-sized superhero in Sony's Valiant Entertainment?

Faith Herbert is one of Valient Entertainment’s most beloved superheroes and now Sony is developing a feature live-action adaption of the body-positive superhero Faith Herbert.

The comic book follows a nerdy teen named Faith Herbert, who is obsessed with comics and science fiction.

She also happens to be a telekinetic superhero with plenty of powers, not least of all is the one to remind women of all sizes they can be superheroes.

Faith has the ability to fly and to levitate other objects.

Unlike most superheroes, however, Faith isn’t moody or brooding.

Herbert is an effervescent young woman, with a bubbly personality missing from many superhero movies.

Her personality is in spite of losing her parents in a car crash at a young age, and being raised by her grandmother.

The current comic series is written by Jody Houser with artwork by Francis Portela and Marguerite Sauvage.

The covers are designed by Jelena Kevic-Djurdjevic and see Faith moving to Los Angeles to take on a secret identity as a reporter.

For the movie adaptation, up-and-coming writer Maria Melnik has been tapped to write the feature which will be produced by Neal Moritz and Dan Mintz.

Her other writing credits include American Gods, as well as upcoming action thriller The Escape Room.

Faith is the latest superhero development for Sony after recent news of Jared Leto taking on Morbius.

This is all part of Sony’s expanding Spider-Man universe of movies.

Fans of superheroes from all comic universes are excited to see a new name being thrown into the ring.

With the proliferation of Marvel and DC Comics heroes running rampant, adding a Valiant comic hero into the mix will be a breath of fresh air for the superhero genre.

Fans of Faith have fan-cast Rebel Wilson as Faith, but the door is wide open for women of all sizes to take on the role.
