Lindsay, who went on to find success in many projects including the BBC’s My Family, was working with Molly Ringwald on the film Strike It Rich when he called-out the now disgraced producer.

Responding to an article Ringwald penned about her horrible encounters with Weinstein, Lindsay tweeted: “And yes she’s right and because I confronted him he basically halted my film career.

“#HarveyWeinstein represented everything I came to hate about movies if he owned a movie he owned everyone in it.”

It seems that the actor had even been previously cast in Shakespeare In Love but was kicked out over the incident.

“When I confronted him little did I know the impact on my career… Having been cast in Shakespeare in Love he told the director NO Lindsay,” he added.

“Thank you everyone for your kind words but let’s not forget money power and abuse go hand in hand in every profession.”

A huge number of Hollywood names have spoken out about their experiences at the hands of Weinstein, most prominently Rose McGowan – who sued Weinstein for making advances on her on 1996’s Scream.

Lena Headey has also recently spoken out, saying in a series of Twitter posts that she was made to feel very uncomfortable by his advances.

After she rejected him, she said he furiously told her: ”Don’t tell anyone about this, not your manager, not your agent.”

Cara Delevingne, too, said she was probed about her sex life by Weinstein, before he tried to make her kiss another woman in his hotel room.

Asia Argento recalled how he “forcibly performed oral sex”.

“The thing with being a victim is I felt responsible,” she said.

“Because if I were a strong woman, I would have kicked him in the balls and run away. But I didn’t. And so I felt responsible.”
