Incredibles enthusiasts have been waiting quite a while for the family-friendly hit to return to cinemas.

And reviews for the sequel in the USA are so far doting high praise.

Incredibles 2 has already smashed box office records and is now the highest grossing animated movie of all time.

Incredibles 2 has grossed $181 million making it the highest grossing animated movie opening weekend, breaking the record set by Finding Dory by a cool $55 million.

Brad Bird, the auteur of the first Incredibles, also wrote and directed Incredibles 2.

The Incredibles sequel features the return of Holly Hunter, Craig T Nelson, Sarah Vowell, and Samuel L Jackson.

Around the time of Bird’s other Pixar movie, Ratatouille, the director stated he was open to an Incredibles 2 movie if it could be even better than the original.

Bird told Comingsoon.net in 2007: “I have pieces that I think are good, but I don’t have them all together.”

In 2013, he told Hollywood Reporter: “I have been thinking about it. People think that I have not been, but I have—because I love those characters, and love that world.”

“I am stroking my chin and scratching my head. I have many, many elements that I think would work really well in another Incredibles film, and if I can get ’em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that.”

Bob Iger, Disney CEO, confirmed in March 2014 Bird would write the Incredibles sequel and he started the script in the spring of 2015.

Incredibles 2 has been in the works for a while and American fans have already been treated to the Parr family’s return.
