James Ransone will be seen playing the adult version of Jack Dylan Grazer’s character Eddie when the film’s sequel hits cinemas next year.

And when asked in an interview if his character’s trajectory will follow what King wrote in the iconic book, he was careful to remain tight-lipped.

“They’ll cut my arm off and throw ME in a sewer if I say anything,” he told Inverse.

It’s a straightforward enough question – so is this a sign that there will be a surprise or two in store for the book’s original fans?

Ransone recalled a previous interview in which he realised how just how quiet he has to keep on the movie’s plot developments.

“[The interviewer] asked me, ‘Is Eddie still a limo driver?’” he said.

“So I ask, ‘Can I answer that?’ The answer was, ‘No.’

“They want to control this a lot, and to their credit, I understand why.”

The writer of the sequel has been a little more forthcoming with teasers – saying the ending will break fans’ hearts.

“The ending I think will satisfy the audience and maybe break their hearts a little bit,” he told Slash Film.

“It was trying to do your best job of taking what Stephen King wrote so beautifully all those years ago and try to translate it to the script page.

“For me it was just really fun to be able to revisit these characters and see what they’re up to 27 years later.”

The film reunites the child cast from the 2017 hit, as well as Bill Skarsgard as Pennywise.

New additions alongside Ransone include James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Jay Ryan, Bill Hader and Isaiah Mustafa.

Andy Muschietti is back in the director’s seat, after guiding the first It movie to a strong critical reception and a $700 million global haul.

It: Chapter Two is out in September 2019.
