James Bond 25: ‘Christopher Nolan TOP pick to take 007 in completely different direction’
Daniel Craig may have announced he’s returning for a fifth and final James Bond movie, but the film’s title, cast and director are still yet to be revealed.
A number of filmmakers have been rumoured to be in the running, including Blade Runner 2049’s Denis Villeneuve.
However Hollywood Life have reported that an insider claims Dunkirk’s Christopher Nolan is the top pick for Bond producers.
The source said: “They want to take the franchise in a completely different direction.”
The insider added: “The producers don’t want [Bond] to be the ladies’ man he has been known for and actually want him to get married.
“Everyone feels Christopher would be the best to steer the film in the direction they are seeking.”
This news does seem to fit with other rumours that Bond 25’s plot will be a remake of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service where 007 gets married, but his wife is murdered by Blofeld.
Furthermore Nolan has previously revealed he’s been in talks to direct a future Bond movie.
Speaking with Playboy, he said: “I’ve spoken to the producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson over the years.
“I deeply love the character, and I’m always excited to see what they do with it. Maybe one day that would work out.
“You’d have to be needed, if you know what I mean. It has to need reinvention; it has to need you. And they’re getting along very well.”
James Bond 25 will be released in UK cinemas in November 2019.
