James Bond: Henry Cavill ‘I'd say YES to replacing Daniel Craig, I’d LOVE to be 007 next’
The 35-year-old Brit has taken Hollywood by storm having landed the role of Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel.
Now he’s playing CIA agent August Walker in Mission: Impossible – Fallout opposite Tom Cruise and the James Bond comparisons are inevitable.
Cavill certainly has that tall, dark, chiselled look for 007 and is currently 20/1 to replace Craig who starts shooting his final outing as the spy this December.
So it may come as no surprise that Cavill was runner-up to the incumbent Bond for Casino Royale back in 2006.
Just 22-years-old he was director Martin Campbell’s preferred choice after screen-testing but was ultimately considered too young by Bond producers.
Since then Cavill has channelled something of an American Bond as Napoleon Solo in Guy Richie’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
But now as he approaches the age Craig was when he took on the iconic part, the Brit is still adamant he would love to play 007 next.
And in a recent interview for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, it sounds like all the stunt training has been good practice if he’s going to bag the role of a lifetime.
Speaking with Yahoo Movies, Cavill said: “I would love to do it of course.
“I think Bond would be a really fun role. It’s British, it’s cool.
“I think that now that I have my Mission: Impossible badge we can do real stunts and really amp it up as well.
“Not to say they weren’t doing real stunts I’m just saying it would be fun for me to actually take what I’ve learnt on this and carry it through to a movie like Bond.”
