Joker movie FIRST LOOK at Joaquin Phoenix in set photos and video – WATCH

Jared Leto may have played the Crime Prince of Crime only two years ago in Suicide Squad, but now it’s another actor’s turn.

Phoenix stars in a Joker origin story set in gritty 1980s Gotham and the first look set photos of his character have arrived.

Firstly director Todd Phillips uploaded an official still to Instagram of the star in his proto-Joker form as one Arthur Fleck.

Phoenix is shown in period clothes, with a long hair and looking particularly gaunt.

Meanwhile set photos and a video captured a scene yesterday, involving Arthur and a clown.

Phoenix’s character, a struggling comedian, is shown leaving Ha Ha’s Talent Booking, which he spits at before continuing down the street.

Walking past litter everywhere, he lights a cigarette before a clown confronts him in what appears to be less than friendly conversation.

The pair are standing in front of large red lettering on the wall which reads, Amusement Mile, a section of Gotham from the comics where a fun fair is located.

The star said: “I take a lot of time and consideration when making decisions and what I’m gonna work on always. So, in some ways, the process, which is obviously reading a script and meeting a filmmaker and then continuing to have meetings and discussions with Todd [Phillips, director].

“I think he’s very impressive and he seems to have a very interesting understanding of this world and what he’s trying to say. And so there is something very appealing about that and working with him on this particular project.

“It feels unique, it is its own world in some ways, and maybe, mostly, it scares the f***ing s*** out of me or something. It might as well be the thing that scares you the most.”

Joker will be released on October 4, 2019.
