Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, had her wedding to Prince Harry in May.

The stunning wedding was one of the biggest events in the royal calendar this year and was watched by millions. The former-actress has been hailed as a style icon since the big day.

Meghan Markle’s tuxedo dress at Hamilton is the latest in a long line of chic looks.

The whole outfit cost in the region of £1,249, although Meghan was worn most of the pieces before.

Now the eBay’s annual UK retail report found that Kate Middleton had generated more searches on the online auction site than any other royal.

This was partly due to her pregnancy with Prince Louis, who was born in April.

The number of people searching for “tailored maternity coats” more than tripled, and after Kate wore Jenny Packham outside the Lindo Wing the number of people searching for the designer on eBay more than tripled.

Outside of the famous maternity ward in Paddington, London, Kate wore a red dress with a lace Peter Pan collar.

There were as many as 43 searches every hour for Kate’s favourite brands Jenny Packham and Alexander McQueen.

However, Meghan was the second most popular royal when it came to eBay searches.

The Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in May was a global event, and the former-actress’s wedding dress was made by Givenchy.

Searches for the French fashion house increased 60 per cent after the wedding.

Her second wedding dress, by Stella McCartney, is thought to have caused searches for the brand to double.

Princess Charlotte, three, came third as the royal inspiring the most eBay searches.

Her older brother George, give, was fourth.

Prince Harry has skipped a Balmoral tradition at Balmoral due to Meghan Markle, according to reports.

It would seem Harry did not participate in a grouse hunt with his brother and eldest nephew, Prince George.

Grouse hunting is a known favourite pursuit of the royals, which they have practised for hundreds of years.

Was his decision to skip the sport down to Meghan’s sensibilities? He reportedly missed out on the annual Boxing Day shoot at Sandringham when he visited with his bride to be last year, according to The Sun.

How did Kate Middleton become a royal?

Early life

Kate Middleton, or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was born on 9 January 1982 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, England.

She was born to Michael and Carole Middleton, a former flight dispatcher and air hostess. The couple founded a party supplies company, Party Pieces, in 1987 – now estimated to be worth £30 million.

Kate has a younger sister Pippa Matthews, 34, and a younger brother James Middleton, 31.

Education

Kate and her family moved to Amman, Jordan, in 1984, where the future Duchess was educated at an English-speaking nursery school.

After moving back to Berkshire the family sent Kate to private school, St Andrews School. She went on to briefly study at Downe House before moving onto Marlborough College where she boarded.

For university the young Kate attended the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Here she was awarded an undergraduate MA (2:1 Hons) in history of art.

Relationship with Prince William

Kate met Prince William when they were both studying at St Andrews, and both living in St Salvator’s Hall. Famously, William reportedly took a fancy to Kate after she wore a see-through dress during a fashion show.

In 2003 the couple began dating and lived together during their second year of university.

The couple split in April 2007, however, in October they were back together.

Wedding

Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring in October 2010. The couple were holidaying in Kenya at the time.

On 29 April 2011 they married at Westminster Abbey with a whopping 26 million watching the event live.

Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress worth a reported £250,000 on the big day.

Kate assumed the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge” and also become the Duchess of Cambridge on the day.
