Lost in Space on Netflix: Child star Lacey Chabert from original film looks like THIS now

It is the latest big budget, high concept series to hit the streaming giant.

Netflix will be hoping that the new Lost in Space series fares batter than the 1998 big screen blockbuster.

Despite boasting an A-list cast with Gary Oldman, William Hurt, Friends’ star Matt Le Blanc, Mimi Rogers and Heather Graham, the sci-fi spectacle got lost at the box office, too. 

One of the movie’s two young child stars, Jack Jones, also failed to make much impact after that while the other, Lacey Chabert, has had a long and successful career.

Lacey Chabert was already famous worldwide as the precocious, violin-playing Claudia Salinger in Party of Five.

The show debuted in 2005 and was a global sensation.

Her role as Penny Robinson in Lost in Space was an attempt to move away from her goody-goody image with blue streaks in her hair and surly teenage attitude.

It didn’t work and Chabert has ended up the queen of Hallmark television movies in the US. 

Theroughout the Noughties, Chabert appeared in mainly comedies and outrageous teen drama on the big and small screen, including Not Another Teen Movie (2001), Daddy Day Care (2003) and as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls (2004).

However, since 2010, Chabert has also appeared in 12 Hallmark Channel movies, sometimes as many as three in a year.

The devout Christian said of her wholesome new career path: “I love working for Hallmark, they’ve been so good to me. I have friends there now. I’m proud of their movies and the message of their movies.”

Chabert built a devoted fan following with sexy photoshoots and outrageous teen movies, but has now settled down into her new career path.

She is married her longtime boyfriend, David Nehdar, on December 22, 2013, in Los Angeles and gave birth to their daughter in September 2016.
