Mamma Mia 2: THREE songs from movie soundtrack become chart hits – guess which ones?
As the soundtrack album itself soars to No1 on the UK charts and the first movie’s album rallies back to No5, three individual songs have made minor waves on the singles list.
They’re all very low down the rankings and only just scrape into the Top 100 – but it’s a great achievement considering no songs have been pushed as official lead singles.
The highest-charting song is When I Kissed The Teacher, in at No91 – performed by Lily James, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Alexa Davies and Celia Imrie.
One place behind that at No92 is Cher and Andy Garcia’s take on Fernando.
Then at No98, Lily James appears again with Josh Dylan and Hugh Skinner, singing Why Did It Have To Be Me.
Looking at the sales-only chart, which disregards audio and video streams, several more songs make the grade.
Fernando is the highest-charting entry here at No33, with James, Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried’s take on My Love My Life at No63 and When I Kissed The Teacher at No64.
James’s version of Andante Andante is No66, with Why Did It Have To Be Me at No77 and Christine Baranski, Julie Walters and Amanda Seyfried’s version of I’ve Been Waiting For You at No78.
The ensemble performance of Super Trouper is No81, Mamma Mia is No83, Angel Eyes is No95 and One Of Us is No97.
Back on the album chart, ABBA have also seen their sales rally.
Gold is back in the Top 10 for the first time in a decade, and is at No7 – still the second-best selling album of all time.
More Gold follows at No48, featuring a more thorough tracklisting.
Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again has enjoyed box office success since its launch, generating upwards of $70 million during its first weekend last week.
