The songwriting legend has revealed that an immersive attraction called Mamma Mia! The Party will launch in London next Spring, within The O2 complex.

Up to 500 guests a night will be able to dine on Mediterranean food in a mock Greek taverna, with a spin-off story being performed around them.

Of course, there will be plenty of ABBA songs thrown in for good measure.

After the food, tables will be cleared to one side to make way for a huge dance floor.

“We have long admired the O2 and the huge entertainment success it has become under the ownership and management of AEG,” Ulvaeus said.

“We believe bringing Mamma Mia! The Party to the O2 will add to this already vibrant cultural destination and provide the perfect location for our exciting new show.”

John Langford, vice president and general manager of the O2, said: “To be hosting Mamma Mia! The Party at the O2 is a real honour.

“It perfectly complements the outstanding live performances, events and entertainment all available under our world-famous roof.”

The news comes after Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, the movie sequel, became a huge box office success.

The film is expected to have crossed £60 million mark in the UK by now, meaning it is less than £9 million away from surpassing the total domestic haul achieved by the 2008 original.

What’s more, the soundtrack has had four weeks at number one on the UK album charts, and is poised to return to the summit tomorrow.

The soundtrack of the 2008 original movie is also still in the Top 10.

The stage musical of Mamma Mia premiered back in April 1999 and is the seventh longest-running show in West End history.

It also had a Broadway incarnation that lasted 14 years, the ninth longest-running in Broadway history; and in total it is thought that over 60 million people have seen it.

Mamma Mia! The Party does not have any firm dates on release just yet, with ticket info to be revealed in due course.
