Meghan Markle and Prince Harry married last year in a ceremony at St George’s Chapel at Windsor castle.  Just a few months later, they revealed the Duchess was pregnant and on 6 May 2019 their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, was born.  After her wedding, Meghan became a full-time member of the family after the wedding and has often been spotted carrying out her royal duties.  Showing her dedication to her new family, Meghan used her dress to give a sweet hidden nod to the royal family and her role as part of it.

What was her dress like?

Meghan chose the British designer Clare Waight Keller to make her dress as a tribute to her new country.

She wore a simple white dress which had three-quarter length sleeves.

The silk design also had an open boat neckline and a train with built-in triple silk underskirt.

The Duchess of Sussex matched the dress with a 16-foot long veil and wore the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara

What did her dress mean?

When marrying into the family, Meghan made sure the design showed her dedication to her new royal role.

Meghan paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, 93, by having flowers embroidered onto her veil.

The design on the veil represented the Commonwealth, and mirrored the Commonwealth flowers the Queen had stitched onto the dress she wore to her coronation.

Not only did this design show a sweet nod to the Queen, it represented her future role joining Harry, who was the Youth Ambassador for the Commonwealth.

As well as using the design of her dress to link to her new family, Meghan also included something personal to her and Harry.

It was reported the Duchess had a piece of blue fabric stitched into her veil which was actually a piece of fabric from the dress she wore on her first date with Harry.

Since the pair married nearly a year ago, Harry and Meghan have shown the Commonwealth is still something very important to them.

Instead of getting gifts for the royal baby, they requested royal enthusiasts donate to a charity which has strong links to the Commonwealth.

Meghan and Harry announced they were expecting their first child in October 2018, and Meghan may have hinted on the gender of the baby by wearing blue 23 times during her pregnancy
