Melania Trump wears $4,000 skirt to plant trees and dig hole in White House garden
Melania Trump, 48, had a busy day yesterday when she attended a tree planting ceremony in the White House gardens.
Beaming and looking in the best of spirits, the First Lady well and truly got her hands dirty, using a shovel to dig holes and help plant trees.
Enjoying the bright sunshine and summer temperatures, she planted saplings from the original Eisenhower Oak tree in the garden.
Perhaps not dressed for the occasion, Melania chose style over comfort, opting for a stunning floral skirt and sky-high stilettos.
The 48-year-old looked radiant in a floating, Valentino midi skirt.
The eye-catching gold skirt was emblazoned with bright-coloured flowers and featured bold pleat detail.
Currently out of stock on the Valentino website, the Romantic Garden Brocade A-Line Skirt retails for $4,000 (£3259).
To match the delicate skirt, Melania opted for a more casual blush pink vest top.
The vest was fitting for the hot day, sleeveless and in a slightly sheer material, but also featuring a high neck.
Not so fitting for gardening and planting trees, Melania finished off her look with a pair of pink, six-inch, Christian Louboutin pointed-toe stilettos, but managed to keep her balance and posture throughout the session.
Keeping things natural, she wore her caramel hair down and in loose curls, with natural, nude makeup to match.
During the planting, Melania was accompanied by Richard Emory Gatchell Jr, a fifth generation grandson of President James Monroe.
James Monroe was the fifth President of the US, and one of the country’s founding fathers.
On the same day, Melania also played host to the Kenyan President, Uhuru Kenyatta and his wife Margaret, along with her husband Donald Trump.
Melania is preparing for her own trip to Africa this October, set to tour a host of African nations, with Kenya potentially on the agenda.
The trip will be Melania’s first official solo tour abroad without her husband, with the First Lady hoping to educate herself and address many issues facing children on the continent.
Melania said: “This will be my first time travelling to Africa and I am excited to educate myself on the issues facing children throughout the continent, while also learning about its rich culture and history.”
After her day gardening, Melania brushed the soil off and made a quick change, welcoming Christina leaders to the White House.
In the early hours of this morning, the former-model posted two images of herself sat among diners in the historical building.
She wrote: “It was wonderful to host Evangelical leaders at the @WhiteHouse tonight.”
