Melania Trump, 48, joined her husband Donald Trump, 72, on the 17th anniversary of the tragedy which happened in New York city in 2001.

Reflecting the sombre nature of the day, Melania wore a dark navy coat which covered most of her skin as she stepped on the plane.

She chose not to change during the flight as she does sometimes, keeping her coat on throughout the flight and stepping out in to the airport wearing it.

Tied tightly at the waist, the coat showed off her trim frame. White stitching added interest to the design.

The First Lady made a feature of her ankles, with the coat stopping mid-calf, highlighting her legs.

She chose a pair of navy leather court shoes from Manolo Blahnik on her feet.

Melania opted to wear her hair in her favoured style – loose over her shoulders in a middle parting.

Her makeup was simple too, and the mum-of-one chose pink lipstick and heavy eyeliner.

Melania is returning to work after a summer break which was mostly spent at Mar-A-Lago in Florida.

What does the former model and mother-of-one do every day, and what is her daily routine?

It has been reported that Melania sleeps in a different bedroom to her husband Donald Trump, arising a little earlier than the president’s 5:30am wake up.

According to two close friends speaking to the Washington Post, Melania then gets her 12-year-old son Barron ready for school.

Melania Trump calls herself a “full-time mom” and tries to involve herself as much as she can in Barron’s life, Business Insider has previously revealed.

Melania considers her first job as raising Barron and along with getting him up and ready for school, she also helps him with homework and has made his breakfast and lunch.

There are often occassions when Melania has to release official statements, even when she has not been seen in public.

Most recently, she slammed an anonymous writer who penned a scathing article about Donald Trump in the New York Times.

Melania slammed the “cowardly actions” of the writer who claimed there is “resistance” against Trump in the White House.

The Washington Post reported that the First Lady released the scathing statement.

She said: “If a person is bold enough to accuse people of negative actions, they have a responsibility to publicly stand by their words and people have the right to be able to defend themselves. To the writer of the [op-ed] — you are not protecting this country, you are sabotaging it with your cowardly actions.”
