The remake hits US cinemas on February 1, 2019.

A week later, Miss Bala lands in the UK – on February 8, 2019.

But the first countries to get the release are Sweden and South Africa, with a January 25, 2019 release.

What is the plot of the Miss Bala remake?

The plot of the remake mostly follows the plot of the 2011 original.

IMDB describes the plot for the upcoming movie as: “Gloria finds a power she never knew she had when she is drawn into a dangerous world of cross-border crime.

“Surviving will require all of her cunning, inventiveness, and strength.”

The 2011 movie plot follows 23-year-old Laura Guerrero who is caught up in the criminal underworld when she witnesses a gang murder.

Guerrero is kidnapped by the leader of the gang, and forced into being a drugs mule for the criminals.

Who stars in the remake of Miss Bala?

Gina Rodriguez, best known for playing Jane in the CW series Jane The Virgin plays the leading woman – Gloria.

The movie is being directed by the talented Catherine Hardwicke, the director of the first Twilight movie who is an outspoken critic of the gender disparity for women directors in Hollywood.

Ismael Cruz Córdova plays Lino, the gang leader who kidnaps Gloria.

Anthony Mackie as Dave, who appears to be another gang member from the trailer.

Aislinn Derbez plays Isabel, with Matt Lauria as Brian and Ricardo Abarca as Pollo.

Cristina Rodlo plays Suzu, the friend of Gloria who goes missing in the chaos at the nightclub.
