Mission: Impossible – Fallout is being lauded as one of the best Mission Impossible movies to date.

The sixth instalment of the franchise debuted in London on July 25 and has enjoyed plenty of accolades.

The last country to get the Cruise action thriller was China, where the box office there is key to the success of any movie.

As the figures from China’s opening weekend roll in, Mission: Impossible – Fallout has proven to be one of the biggest summer blockbusters yet.

How much money has Mission: Impossible – Fallout made at the box office?

For its opening weekend, the Tom Cruise movie made £47.6 million ($61.3m), making it the number one film of the weekend.

The film’s three day opening weekend in China raked in £59.86m ($77m).

All told, as of writing, the Mission Impossible movie has made £47.6m ($647.1m).

In China, Fallout had 144,000 screenings per day according to local data tracker Ent Group.

The breakdown across the weekend was £19.12m ($24.6m) on Friday, £22.31m ($28.7m) on Saturday and £17.72m ($22.8m) on Sunday.

Fallout is proving to be a series best in China, coming in 83 per cent ahead of the previous five Mission Impossible movies.

MI6 is also the biggest three day opening for Tom Cruise.

The budget for the Mission: Impossible – Fallout was a whopping £138.37m ($178m), increasing due to the injury sustained by Cruise while filming.

With the American Labour Day weekend winding down stateside, the movie is taking in more money at the US box office.

Fallout holds a 97 per cent approval rating on the critic aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, proving itself to be a formidable film.

Part of Fallout’s success in China was the lack of competition during its opening weekend.

The sequel also benefitted from the support of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba.

Alibaba, which invested in the movie through its Alibaba Pictures unit, was a huge help in the promotional stage.

In a statement, Alibaba Pictures president Zhang Wei said: “This franchise has always been close to our hearts at Alibaba Pictures because those themes it represents—undertaking challenges and moving boldly into the future in spite of the odds—resonate not only with our audiences but also with our own company values.”

The sixth movie premiered in Italy to £2.1m ($2.7m) and in Greece to £308,609.93 ($397,000m).

On the other end of the spectrum are France and Japan with £1.03m each ($1.3m) and Germany with £714,389.24 ($919,000).

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is in cinemas now.
