MoviePass: What is MoviePass – Has Sinemia just come up with a BRILLIANT offer?

MoviePass is bleeding subscribers, according to a new survey from the National Research Group, and Sinemia is taking advantage with a new deal.

MoviePass has come under fire from subscribers after they continually shift price ranges and movie lists, as well as limit members to only three movies a month.

Sinemia is jumping on the opportunity to offer the chance to buy any 2D, non-IMAX screen in advance, an option which is not open to MoviePass subscribers.

Is Sinemia a better alternative to MoviePass?

What is MoviePass?

MoviePass is a monthly subscription service that opens up cinema tickets for movie lovers.

For a fee per month, viewers can watch three movies a month at any participating theatres nationwide.

MoviePass came under fire from public outcry after it increased subscription prices from $9.95 a month to $14.95, while restricted some of the more popular movies it included in the deal.

The company has chopped and changed its model frequently in the last few months, shifting the amount of movies subscribers can view in a month.

The constant shift appears to be causing a rift between company and consumer, with subscription numbers dropping significantly.

MoviePass is also making several changes to its subscriber structure, migrating annual subscribers over to the new monthly plan.

Those who were surveyed by NRG said they no longer found MoviePass to be trustworthy, claiming the constant changes in plans and rules made them unreliable.

What is Sinemia?

Sinemia is the plucky alternative, offering customers a $9.99 subscription for three tickets a month, but the chance to buy tickets in advance to a broader range of films.

Just a couple weeks ago, Sinemia announced a refer-a-friend program that rewards subscribers who convince their friends to leave other subscription services.

The company makes no secret of the fact that it’s targeting MoviePass in particular — in today’s announcement, it describes the new plan as one that “matches MoviePass’ latest.”

Alongside their $9.99 offer, Sinemia also offers a $3.99 deal for one ticket a month, and a $14.99 deal which opens up three tickets a month with IMAX and 3D access.
