Ocean’s 8 SEQUEL news: Sarah Paulson speaks out on future plans after box office success
Paulson is one of the headline stars of the all-female ensemble caper, which is out in the UK on Monday.
The movie was released in the USA last week and was a box office smash, scoring a better opening weekend than any of its male-fronted predecessors: Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen.
Speaking on ITV’s Lorraine, Paulson said: “It could be Ocean’s 9, Ocean’s 8-and-a-half…
“It depends what we do, if we get to make another one. Which I hope we do.”
Host Lorraine Kelly added that the sequel prospects could be affected by the ending of Ocean’s 8, to which Paulson teased: “There’s a lovely twist.”
And when Kelly voiced her support for another film, the actress beamed: “I hope so too!”
The pair had earlier discussed the box office success of Ocean’s 8, and what it could mean for Hollywood going forward.
“It means we’ll get to make more movies where women are the centre of the story and thats a good thing,” she explained.
“It is an industry and it is a business – so if it makes money and [producers] see that there is an appetite and an audience then they will make more of it.”
Ocean’s 8 stars Sandra Bullock as Debbie Ocean, the sister of George Clooney’s Danny in the original trilogy.
She is joined by Paulson as Tammy, Cate Blanchett as Lou, Mindy Kaling as Amita, Rihanna as Nine Ball, Awkwafina as Constance and Helena Bonham Carter as Rose Weil.
Anne Hathaway, meanwhile, is Daphne Kluger; a celebrity who is the target of the women’s heist plot.
The film has already made back its $70 million budget, having grossed around $76.3 million worldwide thus far.
