Ocean’s 8 star Sandra Bullock speaks out on sex scenes – ‘Don’t want to see it!’
The actress – who has appeared in smash hits such as Miss Congeniality and Gravity – revealed in a new interview that she has absolutely no interest in filming racy sequences.
“I’m not the kind of person who says, ‘I’m gonna tape myself having sexual intercourse cos I’m gonna look good!’” she told The Sunday Times Magazine.
“I don’t want to know what my best angles are. Don’t wanna see it. Don’t want to hear it.
“Therefore, I’m not going to do it on film.”
Bullock also talked about accrediting comedy for much of her success, as she fought for roles that didn’t follow conventional gender tropes.
“I was always saying, ‘Can it not be the typical narrative of the girl getting the guy?’” she mused. “‘If there is a romantic scene, can it be funny?’
“Comedy has always been my deflector. It’s how I’ve survived. It’s safe, because I set the tone.”
Ocean’s 8, her latest film, has enjoyed box office success – doing better than the likes of Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen in its opening weekend in the US, not accounting for inflation.
In it, she plays Debbie Ocean – the sister of George Clooney’s Danny from the first three films.
Cate Blanchett, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson and Mindy Kaling are among her co-stars.
A sequel is now thought to be in the pipeline; something Paulson has spoken in favour of.
She told ITV’s Lorraine: “It could be Ocean’s 9, Ocean’s 8-and-a-half…
“It depends what we do, if we get to make another one. Which I hope we do.”
