QUEEN ELIZABETH II, 92, attended a reception for the 603 Squadron of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force in Edinburgh this evening.

The City of Edinburgh squadron was being honoured with the Freedom of the City of Edinburgh.

The Freedom of the City of Edinburgh is the highest honour a city can bestow, with the Queen in attendance to personally meet with the squadron.

Wearing her favourite colour blue, Her Majesty beamed with happiness as she enjoyed the evening in the summer sun.

The reception took place at the the Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s official residence in the city and the home of Scottish royal history.

The monarch looked glowing as she wore a dress in a shade of her reported favourite colour, blue. Just days after her sickness scare that caused her to pull out of an engagement last week.

The bluey green dress came to her calves, and featured a delicate floral pattern.

The pattern was laid over a lighter shade material of the same colour, with the dress also featuring panel detailing.

Her dress also featured a block colour around the sleeves and neckline.

Despite the hot weather, the dress appeared to be made of a heavy material, also featuring long sleeves.

The Queen wore her signature row of pearl necklaces, along with a delicate pair of pearl earrings.

Her patent black handbag perfectly matched her patent black court shoes, featuring a low block heel.

Dressing for the occasion she wore a summery pink lipstick.

The Queen beamed even wider when she shook hands with Lord Provost Frank Ross during the reception.

Joining his mother at the event was the Queen’s youngest son, Prince Andrew.

With the RAF close to her heart, the Queen is commander-in-chief of the British Armed Forces.

Along with being sovereign and head of state she holds the title of “head of the armed forces”.

The 92-year-old also wore blue for the second day of Royal Ascot, attending the horse racing meet in a lovely powder blue shade.

Her Majesty attended the horse racing meet on multiple times last month, looking happy and relaxed surrounded by her family.

Complementing her summery blue attire, she added pearl earrings and a pearl necklace to the look, with a diamond star brooch.
