Real Madrid news: Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale block Edison Cavani transfer
Real Madrid are short on strikers due to Alvaro Morata’s summer move to Chelsea and Karim Benzema’s long-term injury.
Zinedine Zidane has made it apparent he wants a replacement for Morata and has become reliant on youngster Borja Mayoral.
Reports in Spain suggest Edinson Cavani is unsettled at Paris Saint-Germain and is a January target for Real.
However, Spanish transfer website Don Balon claim Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are working together to prevent the deal from going ahead.
The report says Cavani and Neymar are not seeing eye-to-eye following his £200million move to the Parc des Princes and he wants out.
Real president Florentino Perez has reportedly considered a move for the experienced Uruguay international.
However, Ronaldo and Bale are both opposed to the idea with the Portuguese particularly against the deal.
It is said the 32-year-old is in the process of negotiating a new contract with Real and does not want increased competition for his remaining time at the club.
Speaking earlier this month about Real’s offensive frailties, Zidane said: “It’s true, when you look at the players we had like Morata…
“And when you see that now we only have Mayoral that you might think we lack a No 9.
“I would have liked Morata to stay, but he wanted to play more and to leave.
“It wasn’t possible to sign another player.”
