Royal wedding: Meghan Markle could wear a custom tiara worth half a MILLION experts claim

Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 35, will soon say their vows in the 2018 royal wedding.

Many fans of the Royal Family have been speculating as to what Meghan will wear, down to her jewellery.

The British royals have access to some of the world’s most lavish jewels.

Kate Middleton, 36, wore the Cartier Halo Tiara at her wedding to Prince William, 35, in April 2011.

Now an expert has claimed the Suits actress could wear a tiara worth half a million pounds on her big day.

Meghan Markle may have a custom-made tiara for her wedding day, much like Sarah Ferguson, 58, did when she married Prince Andrew, also 58.

Jerry Ehrenwald of the International Gemological Institute told Business Insider this could cost around $687,360 or £499,779.46.

That would pay for around half a pound of platinum and a whopping 800 brilliant-cut diamonds and 150 baguette diamonds.

Sarah Ferguson’s wedding tiara, The York Diamond Tiara, has been valued at around £220,000 for Express.co.uk.

Grant Mobley, a gemologist and Director at Pluczenik, said: “This picture-perfect classic is made entirely out of diamonds set in platinum with floral scrollwork and a large diamond of around 5 carats sitting on top.

“With the value of a top quality 5 carat stone like this tiara topper combined with the platinum and other diamonds, the value of this tiara would easily be more than $300,000 USD today.”

It is also thought that Meghan Markle’s tiara for the wedding could be one of this selection, many of which have a link to Princess Diana, who she is said to be hoping to pay homage to on her wedding day.

She may choose the Cambridge Lover’s Knot, a favourite of Princess Diana’s, which Kate Middleton has also worn.

This tiara has 38 drop-shaped pearls and many glittering diamonds.

This piece was made by Cartier in 1936. King George VI gave the tiara to his wife Queen Mother before they married.

Meghan may also wear the Spencer Tiara, a non-royal tiara belonging to Princess Diana’s family.

Diana wore the stunning piece on her wedding day to Prince Charles, 69.

The piece has diamonds in silver settings on a gold base.

It has a floral design, with roses and tulips creating a soft heart-shaped pattern.

It was revealed yesterday that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may break tradition by shunning this wedding day classic.
