Solo: A Star Wars Story to bring back another ICONIC character – Guess who?

The movie, released at the end of this month, tells the origin story of Han Solo, played here by Alden Ehrenreich and made famous originally by Harrison Ford.

Speaking on a podcast for The Washington Post, released at the end of last week, Mark Hamill appeared to let slip that an iconic face will be returning for Solo.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, it’s C-3PO, played by Anthony Daniels.

Hamill said: “Tony Daniels is happy because he’s in every single Star Wars movie.

“Every single one: all the prequels, he’s in Rogue One, he’s in Solo… oops, I hope that’s not [a secret].

“But anyway, he’s in every single Star Wars movie, that’s not such a reveal, Star Wars fans expect him to be in every movie.

“I said to Tony, ‘it’s perfect, you never age, and if you give them enough trouble they’ll just sign somebody else that fits in that suit!’”

On Daniels’ IMDb page, Solo: A Star Wars Story is not yet listed – indicating that his role was perhaps being kept under wraps for now.

If he does appear, it’ll likely be in a very small cameo capacity, given that his character isn’t thought to have come into Han’s orbit at all until the events of the original trilogy.

Daniels’ CV is almost entirely made up of work as C-3PO over the last decade, and he’s also lending his voice to the droid in Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, due later this year.

Solo: A Star Wars Story was also previously rumoured to be bringing back Jabba The Hutt, although this remains unconfirmed.

Ron Howard has directed the spin-off, and revealed in a TV interview last week that George Lucas himself suggested a gag for one particular scene.

Donald Glove, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paul Bettany also star.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is out on May 24.
